CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Cincinnati Public Schools have hired a new gym teacher this year. Her name is Alexa, and she works for free and is always available.
The program was set up and designed by the local nonprofit Mission 2 Move. Mission 2 Move aims to raise academic performance, improve social health and combat childhood obesity through the use of movement.
Gym at the preschool level provides students with a learning opportunity. Through the experience of breathing and movement, they learn how to manage situations they may encounter in their day.
The pilot program is currently at Rising Stars Academy with plans to roll out to all 124 CPS preschool classrooms in the future.
