Bus Safety
Student behavior that distracts bus drivers is a hazard to the vehicle's safe operation, and jeopardizes the safety and welfare of all passengers. Misbehavior while on a yellow school bus or a Metro bus can result in disciplinary action for the student or the suspension of transportation service for the student. Read more about our requirements for student behavior on buses.
Discipline
Review CPS' Code of Conduct for disciplinary procedures.
Dress Code
Students who attend Silverton Elementary are required to dress in their school uniform every day.
- Tops — Red, white or black Polo Style or button-down Oxford with collar
- Bottoms — Khaki or black (Shorts are permitted in the same colors)
- Jeans are not permitted as part of the uniform.
- Turtlenecks, sweatshirts, sweaters and vest sweaters — in the color of the uniforms — are permitted during cool weather.

- The school reserves the right to ask students to change into proper attire.
Snow Days and School Delays

Visiting During School Hours
We welcome visits from parents, guardians and community members. However, all visitors must sign in at the main office through Lobby Guard and wear a visitor's badge. All visits to classrooms must be set up with teachers in advance (at least 24 hours) and observations are limited to 20 minutes or less to minimize disruption. Parents or guardians who would like a conference with their child's teacher must schedule an appointment with the teacher.
Please call (513) 363-5400 in advance for an appointment if you would like to meet with a teacher or a member of the administrative team.
